Thanks for dropping in. Willows Creations was named after the ten beautiful weeping willow trees surrounding our home located in South Central British Columbia, Canada.
My husband is a retired Truck Driver and I am a retired Paralegal who is trying to keep busy by designing and creating Dollhouse Miniatures with very tiny thread and crochet hooks.
I have sold many of these in the past few years through eBay and other venues and also have a website with many samples of my work.
In the process I have met some really nice miniature collectors and I have welcomed many suggestions and hints for other designs.
I just love bold colour combinations paticularly those found in Spain, Mexico and Latin America. That is not to say that I don't do the traditional Victorian designs or granny squares with shades of ecru, off white and softer pastels. Although I am limited in my colour selections for tatting threads, there is no end to the possibilities in the smaller threads. If you see an item you like but would like a different colour, or combination of colours, I can do a custom order for you and list it.
I am a real stickler for having miniatures to scale (yes, call me picky). In my opinion, for one (1:12) and half inch (1:24) scale, the biggest thread that should be used is size 80 tatting thread and even better results come from utilizing machine embroidery thread, quilting thread and sometimes plain sewing thread. It is, however, very time consuming work and on average it takes about 8 to 10 hours to make an afghan and up to 24 hours to make a larger bedspread. And then, I do have to take a break once in a while because the old gray mare just ain't what she used to be.
We are registered as Willows Creations with the Canada Revenue Agency for the collection of Goods and Services Tax from Canadians (5%)
(except for NB, NL and NS where the HST is 13%) and the British Columbia Consumer Taxation Branch for the collection of Provincial Sales Tax (7%).
As such our GST number will be provided on the invoice.
